BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT

Handcrafted in inimitable Crewe style, the interior blends the finest traditional materials with a contemporary Bentley design. It can take as many as 14 hides to craft the luxurious trim in a Continental GT. The Bentley woodshop prides itself on a century’s old tradition of handcrafting wood veneers from the finest natural materials.

The power of the 12-cylinder, 6-litre, twin-turbocharged engine is staggering; the drive, utterly thrilling. Unlike a conventional 12-cylinder engine with two banks of six, the Continental GT’s 6-litre engine is configured in four banks of three cylinders in a W formation.

A host of engine and transmission enhancements have been introduced on the 2008 model year Continental GT to enhance both the refinement and efficiency, these include:

• New crankcase design to reduce internal losses.
• More efficient catalyst and exhaust system for improved emissions.
• Lighter weight single chain drive for camshaft.
• New engine management system and faster response cam sensor.

The exterior style of the new Continental GT 2008 model is now defined by a wider, lower air intake and more upright radiator grille that also provides increased airflow to the more powerful GT Speed. The internal efficiency has also been improved to deliver reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The Continental GT remains outstandingly quick with a top speed of 198mph (318km/h), and 0-60mph sprint time of 4.6 seconds (0-100km/h. The advanced electronic stability programme (ESP) has been prated to ESP 8.1. As well as this, the car is equipped with the largest brakes of any production passenger car on sale today. The ventilated front discs have a 405mm diameter and are 36mm thick. Ventilated discs are also used at the back, with a diameter of 335mm and a thickness of 22mm.
